0.1.22 Changelog (semi-major update)


Hi again everyone! This update introduces the ability network and rest points! 

If you see fireflies flying around, it means there is a spot to rest and modify your ability network! They make a gentle singing sound, so if you're near you may be able to hear them before you see them.

The Ability Network

The ability network is what's responsible for powering and activating your abilities. I've tried to make it clear how it works, but here are some pointers for if you get stuck:

  • Drag out left click to create a wire
  • Abilities have a minimum power requirement in order to be activated - the amount can be seen by counting the small white lines on the edge of each ability
  • Abilities can be overcharged - give enough extra power to them, and they will receive a bonus boost!

Those are the basics, but here are some more subtler rules:

  • The core distributes the same amount of energy to each branch, regardless of how many are connected
  • Only nodes that have no outgoing connections can be overcharged
  • Nodes will take the energy they need for activation before distributing it to other nodes
  • Ability nodes will split what energy they have to outgoing wires
  • The amount of outgoing energy in a wire can be previewed as a ring of dots around the end of an unfinished wire
  • The flow of power is determined automatically - wires will flow away from the core. Wires where it is ambiguous will not work, and will be highlighted red


As this system is very new, I would appreciate any feedback on it. Here are some of the other changes (that I can remember at least, this update has been a bit of a blur):

  • New ability - Weightless! This ability will reduce your weight by 50% when tucked, though overcharging it will upgrade this effect to 100%! Use responsibly, keep out of reach of small children.
  • Time bubble now has a time limit and cooldown when not overcharged - expect this change to be replaced soon, I don't really like it very much.
  • Wall roll and roll jump now have improved overcharged variants.
  • Airbrake's redirect feature has been buffed, and made more forgiving (and the monkey's paw curls).
  • Airbrake's redirect feature is now locked behind overcharging it.
  • Telekinesis and blink dodge currently aren't properly affected by the ability network - the latter will act overcharged even when only normally powered.
  • Added pressure plates, as well as an extra showcase puzzle
  • Bug Fix: Rift collectable's lights no longer show behind walls. I've also refactored a bit of my old code, so this will be less likely to happen in the future.

This update is designed to help pave the way for the rest of the game - progression was something that was on my mind quite a bit, so the plan is for the rift collectables will give you additional wires for the ability network - currently, you have access to as many wires as you can eat for testing purposes, but this is soon to change. Again, let me know what you think about this!
